Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) 

Shift: 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM
Hours: 40 hours/week guaranteed
Contract: 13 weeks
On-Call: None
Weekends/Holidays: Required

📋 Required Qualifications

• 1+ year MLS experience – Required
• BLS (AHA) – Required
• ASCP certification – Required and must be documented
• Travel experience – Preferred, not required

🔬 Main Responsibilities

The MLS will perform laboratory testing and analysis for diagnosis and treatment, including:

• Blood, urine, spinal fluid, and gastric fluid testing
• Hematology — counting and identifying blood cells
• Blood banking — blood typing, grouping, and compatibility testing
• Preparing blood, plasma, and platelets for transfusion
• Microbiology — cultures and antibiotic sensitivities
• Operating and maintaining laboratory analyzers
• Calibration and troubleshooting of equipment
• Quality control and QA/QI procedures
• Maintaining laboratory supplies and inventory
• Preparing and reporting test results
• Following infection-control and hazardous-waste procedures
• Training/orienting new employees
• Identifying problems and implementing solutions when appropriate

🛠️ Equipment/Technical Skills

Experience with laboratory equipment such as:

• Analyzers
• Spectrophotometers
• Colorimeters
• Flame photometers
• Other automated laboratory equipment
