Description
RN OR Scrub
Unit: Electrocardiology – RN
Setting: Acute care
Shift: Days, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
Schedule: 5 days/week
Hours: 40 guaranteed hours/week
Contract: 13 weeks
BSN: Not required
EMR: EPIC
Clinical Requirements
- Certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA)
- License: Active Illinois RN license, or application process must have been initiated
- Required experience/skills:
- EKG interpretation
- Cardiac-patient experience
- ACLS certification
- BLS certification
- Strong critical thinking and interpersonal skills
Unit Details
- Labs/suites: 4
- Average cases/day: 18–25
- Patients: Adult and pediatric cardiac patients, both inpatient and outpatient
- Typical duties:
- Supervise stress tests
- Start IVs
- Administer cardiac medications during testing
- Review histories and medications
- Enter information into Case Cart and EPIC
- Assess patients before testing
- Respond to emergencies
- Collaborate with Nuclear Medicine, Echo, PFT, cardiology fellows, and cardiologists
