Floating Requirements: It's unlikely, but if low censused, could float to other Aurora facilities within 20 miles working within scope of practice or as a helping hand

General Information  

• Fast-paced Emergency Setting  
• Beds: 12 adult beds, 5 adolescent chairs/beds, 6 inpatient beds  
• Will you accept a traveler with 1-year experience:  
• Will you accept a first-time traveler: No
• RN: Yes, prefer more  
• CNA: at least 6 months of psych experience  
• Social Worker: 1 year of mental health or ED experience  

Patient Types:  

• Intake and triage for: Adults are 75% of population, 25% are adolescence (would prefer travelers have experience with this population), crisis de-escalations, acute psychosis, suicidal ideation, non-medically monitored detox (no medical detox), low level medication management, no IVs  
• Voluntary patient's as well as Involuntary patient's brought in by law enforcement.

Patient Ratios:

• RN: 1:2-3 (Days/Nights)  
• CNA: up to 1:4
• Social Worker: approx. 4 cases if in the ED and 2-3 if working inpatient  

Required Certifications:  

• RN: BLS, De-escalation (required) - CPI/MOAB – The facility does offer CPI training upon arrival.  
• CNA: BLS, De-escalation (preferred) – facility does offer CPI training upon arrival  
• Social Worker: Required – APSW; Preferred – LCSW and BLS

Skills required  

• RN: Behavioral health experience, POC testing, experience with assessment and discharge skills, energetic team player  
• CNA: rounding/surveillance, basic care, POC testing (blood glucose), mental health experience  
• Social Worker: group therapy, working with physicians, D/C planning, knowledge of Milwaukee County resources (preferred)  

Support on the Unit:  

• CNA/Tech (Ratio: up to 1:4)  
• Charge nurse: On first shift, house supervisor evening/overnight shifts; will not have a patient assignment  
• Phlebotomy: No  
• IV/VAT Team: No
• Resource Nurse: No  
• RT: No  
• Security: Two officers on site 24/7  
• Physician: Two on site 24/7, 1 mid-level provider various shift times
• Social Worker: system wide social work group  

Charting System:

• EPIC – preferred  

Floating: If yes, where:  

• RN: It s unlikely, but if low censused, could float to other Aurora facilities within 20 miles working within scope of practice or as a helping hand  
• CNA: none  
• Social Worker: none – can float to Sinai if interested

Orientation:  3-5 days based on comfort level  

Scheduling:  

• Weekend rotation:  
• RN and CNA: every other
• Social Worker: weekends not required, can work if interested  
• Will they be on call:
• RN: Yes, during low census time. Response time is 1 hour  
• CNA: no
• Social Worker: no  
• Holiday Expectations:  
• RN & CNA: Minimum of 2 major winter holidays

• Approval of time off: Up to 5 days
