Description

Respiratory Therapist – Adult ICU


Facility: Rapid City Hospital – Rapid City, SD
Department: Respiratory Care
Setting: Adult ICU
Shift: 6×12-hour variable
Contract: 13 weeks
Guaranteed: 36 hrs/week
Trauma: Level II Trauma Center
Beds: 417 hospital beds | 260–280 listed for general unit capacity
Charting: EPIC – Required
Scrubs: Pewter
Parking: Free

🚨 Must-Haves

  • RRT – REQUIRED
    CRT may be considered based on experience
  • BLS – REQUIRED
  • ACLS – REQUIRED
  • PALS – REQUIRED
  • South Dakota RCP license required before start
  • EPIC experience – REQUIRED
  • Adult ICU / Critical Care experience – REQUIRED
  • General respiratory care experience
  • Associate Degree in Health Sciences – REQUIRED
  • 2+ years' experience preferred/required for standard traveler acceptance
  • First-time travelers may be considered by manager review with strong experience

  • Oscillator 3100A
  • CPAP / Bi-level / APAP
  • Airvo2 high flow

  • Blood gas analysis with ABL90
  • Incourage vest

Scheduling

  • Every other weekend
  • Holidays falling during the contract must be worked
  • Generally, no call, except planned special events when needed
  • Up to 7 days RTO may be requested if department can accommodate
  • Full-week RTO requires contract extension
  • Approved RTO does not waive guaranteed weekly hours

Floating

  • RT coverage throughout the hospital and ED
  • No floating to other facilities unless specifically hired for that arrangement.

Key Submission Points

RRT + BLS + ACLS + PALS + EPIC + Adult ICU/Critical Care experience + SD RCP license before start.
2 years' experience is the standard requirement; first-time travelers require manager review.
