Shift Matrix: Day Shift | 06:30 – 15:00 (5x8-Hour Shifts)

  • Work Schedule: 40 guaranteed hours per week (5x8-Hour Shifts, 06:30 – 15:00).
  • Weekend Policy: No weekend shift rotation required.
  • On-Call Matrix Requirements: Strict call rotation required (11 to 12 call shifts per month).
  • Holiday Policy: Required for any holiday that falls on regularly scheduled shift rotation.

    Guaranteed Hours: 40 Hours Per Week

🚫 Absolute Minimum Qualifications & Departmental Hardstops:

  • Education Mandate: Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology training program.
  • Certification Mandate: Active CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) certification (NBSTSA) strongly preferred/required per state guidelines.
  • Experience Baseline: Minimum 2+ years of recent, dedicated CVOR / Open-Heart Surgical Tech experience in an acute care hospital setting.
  • Mandatory Certifications: Active AHA BLS.
  • Procedural Expertise Mandate: Direct scrub experience in complex cardiovascular and thoracic surgeries, including CABG, aortic/mitral valve replacements, aortic aneurysm repairs, vascular bypasses, and thoracotomies.
  • On-Call Commitment: Must commit to meeting the mandatory 11 to 12 call shifts per month requirement.

Job Summary & Clinical Scope

A Hospital in Jacksonville, FL is seeking an experienced, high-acuity CVOR Certified Surgical Technologist (CVOR Surgical Tech) for a 13-week day assignment in Operating Room 001 (Department 15130). Operating within a leading cardiovascular care center, the CVOR Tech will manage sterile field preparation, surgical instrumentation, and intraoperative scrub duties for complex adult cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgical procedures.

  • Cardiovascular Intraoperative Scrub Duties: Prepare, maintain, and safeguard the sterile field during adult cardiac operations including coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), valve repair/replacement, aortic dissections, and peripheral vascular procedures.
  • Specialized Instrumentation & Equipment Management: Select, assemble, and pass specialized cardiovascular surgical instruments, vascular clamps, cannulas, sternal saws, and vein harvesting instrumentation.
  • Sterile Field Integrity & Procedure Support: Anticipate surgeon needs, perform rigorous instrument, needle, and sponge counts, ensure seamless sterile field setups, and assist with post-procedure room breakdown and decontamination.
  • On-Call Emergency Surgical Response: Maintain readiness to respond to emergency cardiac re-explorations, acute aortic repairs, and emergent open-heart interventions during scheduled call rotations.
