🔥 36-HOUR STEPDOWN / INTERMEDIATE CRITICAL CARE (IMC) RN CONTRACT – NORTHERN VIRGINIA (DC METRO)
An immediate 14-week travel contract opening is available for an experienced Intensive Care Unit (ICU) / Progressive Care / Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) in Falls Church, Virginia (Northern Virginia / Washington D.C. metro area). Operating within a high-acuity 24-bed Intermediate Care / Medical Critical Care Stepdown unit at a flagship Level I Trauma and Tertiary Care Center, this position features a 3x12 schedule (Day/Night rotation, 36 hours guaranteed weekly). NO ON-CALL REQUIRED! FAVORABLE 1:3 RATIO! The department is seeking ICU or strong Stepdown/IMC-experienced nurses who excel in intermediate critical care environments managing acutely ill patients requiring close monitoring. If you are an acute care nurse skilled in multi-infusion titrations/management, continuous telemetry, respiratory disease states, and neurological monitoring looking to earn $2,100/week in Northern Virginia, this assignment is built for you!

- Weekly Gross: $2,100.00
- Weekly Tax-Free Stipend: $1,380.00
- Hourly W2 Rate: $20.00/hr (36 regular hours)
- Overtime Rate: $30.00/hr
📅 SHIFT & POSITION DETAILS
- Schedule: Day/Night rotation, 3x12-Hours (36 hours guaranteed weekly).
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 regular hours guaranteed weekly.
- On-Call Requirements: NO ON-CALL REQUIRED!
- Weekend & Holiday Coverage: 5 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule block; every other holiday rotation.
- Floating Scope: Travelers are first to float to related acute care/telemetry service lines if unit census dictates.
- Unit Acuity & Ratios: 24-bed Intermediate Care / Critical Care Stepdown (IMC). Staffing ratio is maintained at 1:3.
- Clinical Scope & Patient Population: High-acuity medical and surgical stepdown patients, acute respiratory decompensation, complex neurological disorders, severe chronic illness exacerbations, and recovering multi-system critical care admissions.
- Medication Infusions & Drip Management: Managing and monitoring continuous infusions including Insulin gtts, Cardizem, Heparin, Lasix, Precedex, and low-dose vasopressors.
- EMR System, Orientation & Uniform: Epic; 3 days of structured floor orientation; Scrub dress code: Solid Navy Blue pants paired with Solid Navy Blue or Solid White tops (solid navy or solid white jackets; under-scrub long sleeves must be navy or white).
🚨 REQUISITE QUALIFICATIONS FOR SUBMISSION
- Experience: Minimum 2+ years of dedicated clinical nursing experience in an adult ICU, Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU), or High-Acuity Stepdown unit with verified comfort managing up to 3 patients.
- Licensure: Active Virginia RN License or Compact/NLC Multistate License strictly in hand at submittal.
- Certifications Required (Documents in hand):
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) — must be AHA, no exceptions.
- AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
