Description

Travel Med Surg ICU RN assignment, -week contract, 48 guaranteed hours per week, 12-hour night shifts 6:30 PM-6:30 AM, 34-bed Trauma Level I acute care ICU, 2 unit-specific orientation shifts, fast-paced tertiary hospital, adult and pediatric patients over age 15, typical ICU ratio 1:1-2, PCU 1:4-5, Med Surg 1:5-6, common cases include respiratory failure, ARDS, MODS, sepsis, stroke, cardiogenic shock, renal failure, general surgery, psych/OD, GI bleeds, cancer surgeries, neuro and critical care patients, RNs titrate vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, sedation and antiarrhythmics, RNs must interpret centralized telemetry and read their own strips, equipment includes vents, CPAP, BiPAP, high flow, Draeger monitoring, CVPs, A-lines, Swans, EV-1000, ICP monitoring, Zoll Thermoguard and rapid transfuser, ICU-specific advanced skills such as thrombectomy, Impella, balloon pump and CRRT can be trained on the unit, Epic charting, float to all inpatient units except Maternity and NICU, every other weekend, holiday requirement is 2 of 3 major holidays or based on unit needs, manager creates schedule based on unit needs, navy blue scrubs, charge nurse responds to RRTs and codes, no monitor techs, patient care tech ratio 1:18, cancellation up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment, fast-paced team environment requiring critical thinking, collaboration and willingness to help.

Required: 2 years recent ICU RN experience, active RN license required for submission, BLS, ACLS and NIHSS, ability to interpret telemetry, ability to titrate critical care drips, willingness to work 12-hour nights, every other weekend and required holidays, willingness to float to inpatient units except Maternity/NICU, driver’s license required at submission for 50-mile radius verification, candidate must live more than 50 miles from the facility, candidate may not be full-time, part-time or PRN with any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility including CHI or Dignity, RTO must be submitted upfront and limited to 7 days or less per 13-week contract, no additional RTO will be approved after submission, artificial nails are prohibited in patient-care departments, RN must pass the open-book Friday orientation exam with a minimum score of 90% or contract may be terminated, interview with unit leaders required. Preferred/Trainable: Neuro-interventional/thrombectomy, Impella, balloon pump, CRRT, ICP monitoring, Swans, EV-1000 and other advanced ICU skills are not required prior to submission and can be trained on the unit.
