Job Details

• Profession: RN – Med Surg / Pulmonary
• Facility: UPH (Iowa Methodist Medical Center / Iowa Lutheran)
• Shift: Nights, 4x12 hours/3x12
• Weekly Hours: 48 hours (36 hours may be accommodated if preferred)
• Contract:13 weeks (as provided; confirm contract duration)
• Weekend: Every other weekend or every third weekend, depending on staffing and census
• Holiday: Rotation; must work 1–2 of the 3 upcoming winter holidays unless the unit is closed
• Call: None
• Floating: Required across campuses
• EMR: EPIC
• Unit: Pulmonary / Med Surg
• Beds: 23
• Night Patient Ratio: 1:4–6
• Drips: Heparin

Requirements

• License: Active Iowa RN license or Compact/Multistate license required at submission
• Certification: BLS (AHA or ARC)
• Experience: 24 months of current Med Surg experience required
• Required Skills: Pulmonary patient care experience
• Highly Preferred:
  • Care for pulmonary/ventilated patients
  • BiPAP and tracheostomy care
  • Level I trauma experience
• Required: Level II trauma experience
• Travel Experience: First-time travelers accepted if they meet the 2+ years of Med Surg experience requirement
• COVID Patients: May be required to care for COVID-positive patients

Job Description / Duties / Responsibilities

• Provides Med Surg and pulmonary patient care.
• Cares for patients with pulmonary conditions.
• May care for ventilated patients requiring BiPAP and tracheostomy care.
• Floats across Iowa Methodist Medical Center and Iowa Lutheran campuses as required.

Compensation & Policies

• OT:
  • 36–40 hours/week: Billable OT after 40 hours
  • 48 hours/week: Billable OT after 48 hours
• OT/Holiday Multiplier: 1.15x
• Call Back: 1.5x multiplier, 2-hour minimum
• Employee Separation Policy: Former UPH FTE or PRN float-pool employees cannot work travel assignments in another market within 12 months, regardless of facility. Former UPH travel staff are exempt from this separation policy.

Submission Requirements

• Resume/work history showing 24 months of current Med Surg experience.
• Med Surg-specific skills checklist.
• Active Iowa or Compact/Multistate license at submission.
• Driver’s license.
• BLS certification from AHA or ARC.
• Professional reference or performance evaluation from a charge nurse, supervisor, nurse manager, director, CNO, or COO within the last 24 months is preferred.
• Local Restriction: Candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted.
• Orientation Dates: October 26, November 9, November 23, and December 7.
