Registered Nurse – Endoscopy (RN Endoscopy)

Shift Matrix: Day / Evening Shift | 08:00 – 17:00 (Variable 06:30 – 15:00 / 08:00 – 16:30)
- Work Schedule: 40 guaranteed hours per week. Direct care across both inpatient and outpatient populations across both health system campuses.
- On-Call Matrix Requirements:
- Weekly Call: Call required approximately once per week.
- Weekend Call: Call rotation every 6th weekend (flexibility to trade call shifts with unit approval).
- Guaranteed Hours: 40 Hours Per Week
🚫 Absolute Minimum Qualifications & Departmental Hardstops:
- Licensure Mandate: Active, unencumbered New York State RN License held in hand at submission.
- Experience Baseline: Minimum 1+ year of dedicated Endoscopy / GI Nursing experience OR Operating Room (OR) RN experience with formal Endoscopy training/experience.
- Mandatory Certifications: Active AHA BLS.
- Dual-Campus & Inpatient/Outpatient Flexibility: Must be willing to care for both inpatient and outpatient populations across both health system campuses.
- On-Call Commitment: Must agree to fulfill required weekly and weekend (every 6th weekend) call coverage.
Job Summary & Clinical Scope
A Medical Center in Elmira, NY is seeking an experienced Endoscopy Registered Nurse (RN Endoscopy) for a 13-week contract in ENDOSCOPY (Department 6712). Operating within a dual-campus health system, the RN will direct pre-procedure assessment, intra-procedural circulating/procedural assistance, conscious sedation monitoring, and post-procedure recovery for diagnostic and therapeutic gastrointestinal procedures.
- Diagnostic & Therapeutic Endoscopic Support: Assist physicians with colonoscopies, EGDs, PEG tube placements, tissue biopsies, and emergency GI bleed interventions.
- Pre- & Post-Procedural Care: Conduct pre-procedural evaluations, establish IV access, administer physician-ordered moderate sedation, and direct Phase I/II recovery and discharge education.
- Inpatient & Outpatient Coverage: Provide seamless clinical care across both outpatient ambulatory suites and inpatient bedside/emergency endoscopies across both health system campuses.
- On-Call Emergency Coverage: Maintain rapid call readiness for urgent GI bleeds, foreign body retrievals, and acute endoscopic emergencies.
