Description
Travel RN – Telemetry
Position: Travel RN – Telemetry
Unit: 2 South – 2F
Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
Schedule: 3×12 hours
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hrs/week
Weekend: Every other weekend
Holidays: Rotating/every other holiday
On-Call: None
Unit Details
- 20 beds, all private rooms
- Telemetry-focused unit
- Patient ratio: 1:5
- Patients include:
- Telemetry
- Post-cardiac catheterization
- Med/Surg with telemetry monitoring
- Respiratory difficulty
- Variable census and admissions/discharges
- EPIC charting
- 10 rooms have hardwired cardiac monitors; remaining rooms can use portable telemetry
- Monitor techs monitor patients hospital-wide
Required Experience
- 5 years RN experience
- 1+ year travel RN experience
- Strong acute-care Telemetry experience
- Basic dysrhythmia recognition and telemetry strip verification
- Telemetry experience is required; current unit is not accepting Stepdown experience as a substitute
Required Certifications
- BLS – AHA
- ACLS – AHA
- NIHSS
Preferred
- Strong EPIC experience
Floating
May float to:
- Comparable Telemetry unit
- Lower-acuity Med/Surg unit
- Occasionally assist with admitted/boarded patients in the ED or patients housed in ICU
Scheduling
- Travelers are hired for either day or night shift
- Day: 7:00 AM–7:30 PM
- Night: 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
- Travelers will not be required to switch their assigned shift
- Block scheduling may be available depending on unit needs
- Self-scheduling allowed
- No on-call
Weekend / Holiday
Every other weekend required
- Day shift: Saturday/Sunday
- Night shift: Friday/Saturday
Rotating holidays include:
- Memorial Day
- July 4th
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving
- Christmas
- New Year's
Other Unit Information
- 2 PCTs for 20 beds
- RT available 24/7
- Hospitalist coverage 24/7
- Unit-based pharmacist 7 AM–3 PM, 5 days/week
- Nurses place IVs
- No ventilators on the unit
- Navy blue scrubs
- Travelers may be asked to precept or charge based on comfort level and unit needs
Orientation
- Day 1: Education modules + shadowing/orientation
- Day 2: Orientation
- Day 3: Independent assignment
Important Submission Rules
- Only 1 position at a time across the entire WVU system
- Driver's license address must be outside 50 miles of the facility
- Previous permanent employees must be gone for 2 years
- Previous travelers who worked there for 1 full year must be gone for 2 years
- Any license hits must be disclosed at submission
- Travel teams must be submitted together in one email
- Maximum 2 candidates per opening
- Unit-specific requirements must be followed
- BSN is not required
- License is not required to submit
