Job Summary:

• Provides direct nursing care according to established policies, procedures and protocols.
• Implements and monitors patient care plans.
• Monitors, records and communicates patient condition.
• Coordinates care across all disciplines.
• Carries out physician and nursing orders.
• Assesses and coordinates discharge planning needs.
• Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work effectively in a stressful environment.

Requirements:

• Active RN license through Texas Board of Nursing required prior to hire/transfer.
• BLS required within 30 days of hire/transfer.
• ACLS required within 6 months of hire/transfer.
• PALS required within 6 months of hire/transfer.
• AHA or American Red Cross certifications accepted.
• Instructor certifications may be accepted in lieu of provider certifications.

Unit Information:

• Level 1 Trauma Teaching Facility
• Located in downtown Austin
• 53-bed Emergency Department
• Annual ED volume: 55,000–60,000 patients
• 2 Charge Nurses
• Physician and Nursing Residency Programs
• Staffing includes Nurses, Clerks, Transporters and PCTs
• Inpatient holding/boarding is likely
• Navy top and bottom scrubs
• Cerner EHR
