Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to a diverse Medical/Surgical patient population, including patients with sepsis, COPD, bowel obstructions, CHF, and other acute medical conditions.
• Maintain a typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4–5.
• Assess patients, develop and implement individualized nursing care plans, and evaluate patient outcomes.
• Administer medications and treatments safely according to physician orders and facility protocols.
• Titrate Insulin and Heparin drips as ordered and monitor patients for therapeutic response and adverse effects.
• Monitor patients receiving telemetry; ability to interpret cardiac rhythms is preferred.
• Monitor vital signs, neurological status, intake/output, pain, and other clinical indicators.
• Provide care for patients requiring CPAP and established BiPAP therapy.
• Recognize changes in patient condition and promptly communicate concerns to the appropriate healthcare team.
• Collaborate with physicians, CNAs, respiratory therapists, and other interdisciplinary team members.
• Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, medications, treatments, and discharge instructions.
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, medications, and patient responses in EPIC.
• Follow infection-control, patient-safety, and hospital policies and procedures.
• Work weekends and holidays as required.
• Be available to float as the first-to-float nurse when required.
• Travelers may be required to float among Region I facilities, including St. Anne Hospital in Burien, Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, and St. Francis Hospital in Federal Way.
• Adapt to different units and patient populations while maintaining safe and effective nursing care.
