Respiratory Therapist – 4615 (Day)
Location: Northern Virginia, VA
Start Date: October 23, 2026
Contract: 13 weeks
Openings: 1
Shift: Days – 3x12s
Hours: 36 hours/week
Engagement: Contract
Holiday Requirement: Christmas + 1 additional major holiday must be covered
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide intensive respiratory care and medically necessary patient transport.
- Evaluate patients and recommend appropriate respiratory treatment plans.
- Administer prescribed respiratory treatments using invasive/non-invasive ventilators, oxygen, aerosol, and nebulizer equipment.
- Perform suctioning, chest physiotherapy, tracheostomy care, and airway management.
- Monitor oximetry and capnography.
- Perform 12-lead EKGs and basic arrhythmia recognition.
- Perform pulmonary function studies such as NIF and VC.
- Assist with respiratory procedures including bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomy, and chest tube placement.
- Manage PleurX/chest drainage when applicable.
- Perform arterial punctures and evaluate ventilation efficiency.
- Perform BLS/ACLS resuscitation.
- Perform endotracheal tube insertion/removal using free-hand or video laryngoscopy techniques.
- Set up, self-test, operate, maintain, and monitor mechanical ventilation equipment.
- Document treatments, assessments, patient responses, charges, and other required information.
- Communicate effectively with physicians and provide shift-to-shift handoff.
- Follow respiratory care, laboratory, safety, and equipment policies.
Required Qualifications:
- Current state Respiratory Therapy license – Required
- Active CRT or RRT credential through NBRC or state equivalent – Required
- Minimum 2 years bedside clinical experience – Required
- BLS certification prior to first shift – Required
- ACLS certification prior to first shift – Required
Key Screening Points:
- 2+ years bedside Respiratory Therapy experience
- Active RRT/CRT credential
- Current VA Respiratory Therapy license
- BLS + ACLS
- Strong experience with mechanical ventilation, tracheostomy care, suctioning, airway management, and respiratory procedures
- Must be available for Christmas + one additional major holiday
- 3x12 Day Shift / 36 hrs per week
