BLS &NRP required.
Floating house-wide for 1:1 coverage only is a possibility, but rare.
May float to Pedi to cover hyperbilirubin readmits, Failure to Thrive, etc (dependent upon competence/comfortability of candidate).
2 years inpatient NICU experience required
Unit Description: Level II NICU caring for infants born at 32 weeks and above. Infants cared for may include, but not limited to, requiring respiratory support (CPAP, HFNC and short term ventilation), peripheral IVs, central lines and NGT feedings. Typical assignments are 3-4:1 (acuity dependent). Women and Children's unit consists of 16 LDRP beds, 4 Pediatric beds and 6 NICU rooms which can support a census of 10 NICU patients. There are also 2 stabilization beds for acute NICU needs. WMCH supports a Family Integrated Nursing Care (FINC) model of care where mom and NICU baby can be cared for together in the same room. There are 4 FINC rooms on the unit that can also be utilized for well couplets and pediatric patients as needed.
The NICU multidisciplinary team includes pharmacy, nutrition, OT, SLP, Lactation, Child Life and Social Work. Infant's care is overseen by 24/7 Neonatology coverage. Neonatology team includes NNPs, PAs and a neonatologist. Permanent staff are trained to both NICU & Pediatrics. Core Nursing staff is 6 RNs and 2 LNAs per shift.EPIC EMRPlum IV PumpsFisher PaykelStaff wear hospital-issued scrubs.
