Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM)
Facility: W. W. Hastings Hospital
Location: 1612 E. Downing St., Tahlequah, OK 74464
Contract: November 16, 2026 – February 20, 2027
Duration: 12 weeks, with possibility of extension
Schedule: 24-hour in-house shifts
Call: In-house 24-hour coverage
Typical Schedule: 7 × 24-hour shifts per month
Position Overview:
W. W. Hastings Hospital is seeking an experienced Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) to provide labor and delivery coverage in an inpatient hospital setting.
The CNM will independently manage uncomplicated labor and deliveries while collaborating with physicians for complicated cases, operative deliveries, and higher-risk patients.
The position primarily focuses on Labor & Delivery, with occasional opportunities to see patients in the Women's Clinic.
Required Qualifications & Credentials:
- Current Oklahoma CNM license
- Oklahoma DEA
- AMCB certification
- BLS – Required
- ACLS – Required
- NRP – Required
- OBDNN – Required
- Current credentials must be active and in good standing
Schedule:
- 24-hour in-house shifts
- Typically 7 shifts per month
- Approximately 168 hours/month based on 7 × 24-hour shifts
- Shifts may occasionally fall on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday.
- Weekend requirements are not consistent because weekends may also be covered by locums or full-time Family Practice providers.
- Always off after post-call
- A designated call room is available.
- Candidates may work two shifts with at least 24 hours between shifts.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Triage Labor & Delivery patients.
- Admit patients for labor and delivery.
- Independently manage uncomplicated pregnancies and labor.
- Perform uncomplicated vaginal deliveries.
- Provide postpartum care and discharge non-C-section patients.
- Identify high-risk pregnancies and appropriately consult the physician.
- Provide patient education regarding antenatal care and reproductive health.
- Provide emotional support and guidance before, during, and after labor.
- Collaborate with physicians and the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Assist with patient care and Women's Clinic services when needed.
Physician Collaboration:
The physician is consulted for:
- Complicated pregnancies and deliveries
- High-risk patients
- Operative deliveries
- Cesarean-section-related care
- Rounding on appropriate patients
Patient Volume:
- Approximately 5–6 births per day currently
- Delivery volume is expected to increase following the opening of the new hospital.
- The primary responsibility of the CNM is Labor & Delivery.
