- Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Associate of Science in Nursing
Description
Required clinical qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience.
- At least 1 year of competent Cath Lab experience is specifically required.
- Must be competent in all aspects of Cath Lab diagnostic and interventional procedures, including structural heart procedures.
- First-time travelers are not accepted — prior travel experience is required.
- Must have Cath Lab RN experience, including:
- Circulating in the Cath Lab
- Moderate sedation
- Patient assessment
- Medication administration
- Pre-op and post-op care
- Open-heart and/or endovascular experience
- Scrubbing is required — RNs must be able to scrub in, hold the heart, and assist with closing the chest.
- Must be able to participate in the on-call rotation.
Licensure & certifications
- WV RN license or Compact RN license required.
- A pending WV license can be submitted, but an active WV license must be in hand before the assignment starts.
- ARRT registration required as stated in the posting.
- BLS – AHA required.
- ACLS – AHA required.
- PALS is required only if applicable to the unit; the posting says it must be AHA if required.
Travel/submission requirements
- Must have a permanent address at least 100 miles from the facility.
- Candidates 75–99 miles away may be considered case-by-case at the same rate.
- 2 manager and/or charge nurse references from the past 2 years are required.
- Required certifications must be listed on the application at submission.
- SSN and DOB are required at submission.
- RTO (requested time off) must be submitted upfront.
- Full candidate file is due by noon Monday before the start date.
- Former permanent employees must wait 2 years after their last permanent employment date before returning as a traveler.
- Current Vandalia Health System employees, including PRN employees, are not eligible for travel contracts within the system.
Schedule/on-call
- 4 × 10-hour days: 6:30 AM–5:00 PM.
- 36 guaranteed hours/week.
- Weekend requirement is call only.
- Call includes:
- 2–3 weekday nights from 7:00 PM–6:30 AM.
- Approximately one weekend call every 4–5 weeks, Friday 7:00 PM through Monday 6:30 AM.
- First- and second-call responsibilities rotate every 12 hours.
- 2-hour callback minimum.
Other details
- No routine floating, although the RN may float within scope if needed.
- Cerner charting experience is preferred.
- Charge experience is preferred.
- Hospital is a Level IV Trauma Center and major teaching hospital.
- Scrubs are provided.
