Registered Nurse – Step-Down Unit

Experience: 2+ years of recent Step-Down experience
Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours/week
Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend & every other holiday
Scheduling: No blocked scheduling
Patient Ratio: 1:4–5
Medication System: Pyxis
Start: ASAP

Patient Population

• Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
• Status post heart catheterization
• Status post vascular procedures
• Respiratory failure requiring BiPAP, CPAP, or Vapotherm
• Cardiac dysrhythmias
• Acute stroke/CVA patients

Required Certifications

• BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS

Required Clinical Skills

• Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
• 12-lead EKG/ECG
• IV insertion and maintenance
• PICC line management
• Blood product administration
• Emergency medication administration
• Procedural sedation monitoring
• Cardiac drip titration
• Acute stroke/CVA management
• BiPAP/CPAP management
• Assistance with chest tube insertion/removal
• Phlebotomy
• Infection prevention and isolation precautions/PPE

Unit Procedures

• Post-cardiac catheterization care
• TR band management
• Post-vascular procedure monitoring
• Frequent vital signs and neurovascular checks

Telemetry Test

A telemetry test is required onsite, typically during orientation. Travelers will have 2 attempts to pass the test. Failure to pass after the second attempt will result in contract cancellation. Please review this requirement with the traveler before submission.

Local Candidates: Accepted. Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility will have a $15 lower bill rate than the travel rate.

Clinicians should demonstrate strong critical-thinking skills, adaptability, and the ability to provide comprehensive care across a variety of clinical situations.
