Dental Hygienist – Federal Correctional Institution, Bastrop, TX

Pay Rate: $53.59/hour

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM (40 hrs/week, excluding federal holidays)

Qualifications

• Licensed Dental Hygienist in Texas
• Dental radiology certification required
• Anesthesia certification preferred
• BLS (AHA or Red Cross)
• 3+ years’ experience preferred
• Ability to work with diverse inmate populations

Responsibilities

• Provide dental prophylaxis, preventive oral health, and periodontal care
• Deliver oral hygiene instructions and monitor patient conditions
• Perform dental X‑rays, suture removal, and local anesthesia (if trained)
• Sterilize instruments and maintain infection control
• Oversee housekeeping and infection control procedures
• Manage scheduling, documentation, and data entry
• Maintain medical records and confidentiality
• Follow BOP Dental Service policies and standards
• Physical requirements: standing, walking, bending; occasional lifting up to 35 lbs
