Position Overview: 

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Surgical Services team. This position supports a facility with 3 operating rooms, 3 PACU bays, and a pre-op area, with one anesthesia provider.

The RN will provide direct patient care throughout the surgical services department and must be experienced and competent in all three areas:

• Pre-Operative (Pre-Op)
• Operating Room / Circulating
• Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)

The RN will function as a primary caregiver and must be able to work independently across all three areas.

Surgical Services: 

Cases include:

• General Surgery
• OB/GYN
• Ophthalmology – Cataract Surgery
• Orthopedic Surgery

Orthopedic cases are performed approximately 1–2 times per month.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in Pre-Op, OR/Circulator, and PACU
• Perform patient assessments and accurately document care
• Prepare patients for surgery
• Circulate surgical cases
• Recover patients following procedures
• Coordinate patient transfers
• Provide emotional support and patient education
• Assist with processing instruments and equipment in Central Sterile
• Assist other surgical services staff as needed
• Follow infection prevention and control practices
• Maintain compliance with department policies and procedures
• Follow applicable professional standards and guidelines, including AORN, ASPAN, IAHCSMM, and ASGE
