Position Summary:

The Surgical Scrub Technician provides patient care and OR support within the operating room suite. The candidate must have strong OB/GYN surgical experience and be able to independently anticipate surgical needs, manage instruments, perform surgical counts, and follow surgeon preference cards.
 

Key Responsibilities:

• Scrub surgical cases and anticipate physician/surgeon needs before and during procedures.
• Select and prepare cases according to surgeon preference cards.
• Maintain complete and accurate surgical instrument trays.
• Perform and document required instrument and surgical counts.
• Count towel clips, Allis, Ednas, and other required instruments according to procedure.
• Report count discrepancies and other exceptions immediately.
• Update surgeon preference cards according to facility-specific processes.
• Assist with dressings and cast applications when required.
• Provide quality patient care while maintaining OR safety and procedural standards.
• Identify problems and take appropriate action independently.
• Participate in teaching, process improvement, and cost-containment initiatives.
• Maintain required compliance, licensing, certification, TB testing, HIPAA, and safety requirements.

Required Experience:

• Minimum 3 years of hospital-based Surgical Scrub experience
• Strong OB/GYN procedure experience – REQUIRED
• Strong knowledge of:
  • Operating Room procedures
  • Surgical instrumentation
  • Instrument tray accountability
  • Surgical counts
  • Surgeon preference cards
  • Patient care

Certifications:

• BLS – Required
• Scrub Tech Certification – Preferred
• Approved Operating Room Technician program or equivalent technical skills through on-the-job training preferred.
