Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive nursing care to adult patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring and intermediate-level care. The RN is responsible for patient assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation while collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure high-quality patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to Step Down/Telemetry patients with cardiac, respiratory, neurological, and post-operative conditions.
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and recognize/respond to arrhythmias and changes in patient condition.
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans.
• Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and cardiac medications as ordered.
• Care for patients requiring cardiac monitoring, oxygen therapy, and non-invasive ventilation; ventilator competency may be required depending on the unit.
• Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and discharge planning.
• Educate patients and families on disease management, medications, and discharge instructions.
• Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (Epic preferred).
• Adhere to Kaiser Permanente policies, patient safety standards, and evidence-based nursing practices.

Required Qualifications

• Active California RN License.
• Minimum 3 years of recent acute care experience in SDU, Telemetry, Progressive Care (PCU), or Critical Care.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Experience with cardiac drips, post-cardiac procedures, and continuous telemetry monitoring preferred.
• Epic EMR experience preferred.
• Strong critical thinking, communication, and patient assessment skills.
