Job Breakdown – Adult Cardiac Sonographer

Location: Richmond, VA
Facility: Large academic medical center / Level I Trauma
Role: Adult Cardiac Sonographer / Echo Tech
Schedule: 4×10 hours, 7:00 AM–5:30 PM
Contract: 13 weeks
Start: 10/26/2026
Travel Experience: Not required
Local Candidates: Accepted at same base rate

Must-Have Requirements

• 3 years recent experience
• Adult Cardiac Sonography
• Level I Trauma experience
• Academic hospital experience
• Epic experience
• BLS
• CCI or RDCS certification
• VA or Compact license in hand at submission
• Complex cardiac echo experience
• TEE
• Stress Echo
• 3D Echo
• Bubble studies
• Contrast imaging
• Adult inpatient & outpatient experience

Important Skills

• HOCM
• Regional wall motion abnormalities
• Aortic stenosis and valvular disease
• Shunt evaluation
• Saline contrast administration
• TAVR, LVAD, Impella, balloon pump imaging
• Bedside echo
• Pharmacologic & treadmill stress echo
• Strain imaging
• Portable studies
• GE and Philips equipment
• PACS
• Philips IntelliSpace Cardiovascular (ISCV/Xcelera)

Schedule / Call

• 4×10-hour shifts
• Start time may be 6:00 AM or 7:00 AM
• May occasionally be assigned to 8-hour shifts depending on department needs
• 1–2 weeks of call per 13 weeks
• Two weekends of call during the contract
• May float to the outpatient clinic within scope

Productivity

• 8-hour day: 6–8 studies
• 10-hour day: 8–9 studies
• Daily visits: approximately 70
