Lab Technician – Job Requirements

• Position: Lab Technician
• Contract: 13 weeks
• Start Date: ASAP — must start before 10/24/2026
• Shift: Day Shift
• Schedule: 4×10-hour shifts
• Hours: 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• Expected Schedule: Wednesday–Saturday
• Flexibility: Schedule days are not fixed; candidate must be flexible based on facility needs
• Certification: ASCP or AMT certification required at the time of submission
• EMR: Cerner
• Scrubs: Any color
• Blood Bank Experience: Preferred / a plus

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Follow Universal Precautions and all applicable safety standards.
• Understand and comply with facility policies and procedures.
• Demonstrate dependability and responsibility, including:
  • Attendance
  • Punctuality
  • Following instructions
• Perform venipuncture.
• Perform daily quality control and daily maintenance according to established guidelines.
• Complete laboratory testing accurately and within required timeframes.
• Operate and troubleshoot:
  • Chemistry analyzers
  • Urinalysis (UA) analyzers
  • Hematology analyzers
  • Coagulation analyzers
• Perform Blood Bank testing, including:
  • ABO/Rh typing
  • Antibody screening
  • Compatibility testing
  • Quality control
• Perform miscellaneous testing, including:
  • Serological testing
  • Microbiology testing
  • Microscopic examinations
  • Other laboratory testing as assigned
• Maintain courtesy and professional conduct with:
  • Patients
  • Laboratory staff
  • Physicians
  • Other employees
• Communicate important information effectively with coworkers, supervisors, fellow employees, and physicians.
• Maintain a high standard of overall quality, performance, and professional conduct.
