Level 1 Registered Nurse – Med-Surg

Patient Ratio: 1:4, with a maximum of 1:6
Schedule: 4 × 10-hour day shifts

Position Overview:

The Med-Surg RN will provide nursing care to adult and pediatric patients who are acutely ill with a wide range of medical conditions and/or recovering from surgical procedures. The RN will manage multiple patients while providing safe, compassionate, and comprehensive care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct nursing care to adult and pediatric patients with acute medical conditions and post-surgical needs.
• Assess patients, monitor changes in condition, and promptly communicate significant findings to the healthcare team.
• Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and facility protocols.
• Educate patients and families regarding medications, treatments, procedures, and ongoing care needs.
• Perform patient admissions and discharges and ensure appropriate documentation and care coordination.
• Develop, implement, and update individualized nursing care plans.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of assessments, interventions, medications, and patient responses.
• Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure continuity of care.
• Prioritize care and effectively manage multiple patients in a fast-paced Med-Surg environment.
• Maintain patient safety, infection-control standards, and compliance with hospital policies and procedures.

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience.
• Current Oklahoma RN license or Compact RN license.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
• Must have experience and be comfortable caring for pediatric patients.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple patient-care priorities.
• Successful completion of required pre-employment clearances, including background check and drug screening.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including standing, walking, sitting, climbing stairs, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
• Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs.
