Job Requirements

This is a Registered Nurse (RN) position on a night shift, 3×12-hour schedule, with 36 guaranteed hours/week.

Required

• RN license: Current Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
• Education: ASN/ADN from an accredited school of nursing is required.
• BLS: Current American Heart Association BLS certification required.
• NIHSS: Listed as a required skill/certification.
• Clinical nursing: Must be able to independently perform nursing functions and delegated medical functions within the scope of practice.
• Patient care: Must be able to:
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care
  • Collect and assess ongoing patient health data
  • Provide nursing treatments and therapies
  • Monitor and review treatment/therapy plans
  • Provide health teaching and counseling
  • Refer patients for additional evaluation or treatment when appropriate
  • Document according to hospital and regulatory requirements
• Delegation: Must be able to appropriately delegate, supervise, consult, and teach others within the RN scope of practice.
• Floating: Must be willing to float to other departments within scope of competency and qualifications based on hospital needs.
• On-call: May be required to take on-call responsibilities during a regularly scheduled shift.
• Compliance: Must follow hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and SCL Health mission/values.

Preferred

• BSN — preferred but not required.
• Previous RN experience — preferred.
• ACLS, PALS, or NRP — required only when appropriate for the specific unit/service.
• Additional specialty certification appropriate to the unit — preferred.

Key screening criteria

I would verify these first:

1. Active RN license in the state of practice
2. ASN/ADN or higher
3. AHA BLS
4. NIHSS
5. Ability to work 3×12-hour night shifts
6. Willingness to float within scope
7. Willingness to accept potential on-call requirements
8. Appropriate ACLS/PALS/NRP certification if required by the specific unit
