Position: RN – Geriatric Long-Term Care / Psych
Facility: GSS – Canistota
Setting: Post-Acute / Long-Term Care Psychiatric
Shift: 12-hour Days
Schedule: Every other weekend + holidays
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
Contract: 13 weeks
Beds: 55

🧠 Specialty – Important

• This is a Geriatric LTC Psych facility.
• Geriatric Psych or LTC Psych experience is preferred.
• Patient population is primarily elderly.
• Dementia is very common.
• Some patients have:
  • Schizophrenia
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Paranoia
  • Behavioral health needs

👩‍⚕️ Requirements

• BSN required
• BLS required
• Active RN license required for submission
• Psych/LTC psych experience preferred

👥 Ratios / Staffing

• Day: approximately 1:23
• Overnight: approximately 1:45
• Med aide available 6 AM–10 PM
• One nurse from 10 PM–6 AM
• Most skilled charting and COVID documentation is handled during day shift.

🏥 Orientation

• Facility training and tour
• Competency training
• Opportunity to shadow 1–2 shifts

📍 Local Rule

• 80-mile local placement rule
• Local candidates receive an adjusted rate of -$8
• Local OT rate also adjusted by -$8
• If GSS housing is used, local rates apply.

⚠️ Important Policy

• If clinician backs out or quits with less than 14 days' notice, a $500 fee will be billed.
• Cancellation policy: 2 weeks' notice
