LTC RN – Job Breakdown

Specialty: LTC RN
Setting: Long-Term Care / Post-Acute
Shift: 12-hour Days, 7:00 AM–7:00 PM
Schedule: EOW (Every Other Weekend)
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
Contract: 13 weeks

Key Requirements

• LTC experience – MUST HAVE
• BLS – Required
• Active license required to submit
• BSN not required
• First-time travelers may be considered if they have LTC experience

Facility / Unit

• 26-bed LTC unit
• Patient population: Heart disease, diabetes, dementia
• No clinical/acute-care involvement
• No telemetry
• No IVs or titratable drips
• No rehab beds
• No RT on-site
• Oxygen: concentrators and portable concentrators
• Physician available by phone/on-call
• Pharmacy is off-site

Nurse Duties

• Act as charge nurse
• Medication administration
• Wound care
• General LTC nursing care
• PT as needed
• Social worker available

Ratios

• Days: 1 nurse : 10 patients
• Nights: 1 nurse : 19 patients

Scheduling

• 12-hour shifts, 7a–7p
• No blocked scheduling
• No self-scheduling
• EOW weekends
• Every other major holiday
• No call/standby
• No floating requirement
• First-to-float is listed, but unit notes say no floating—verify if needed

Orientation

• 2–3 shifts of unit-specific orientation

EMR

• MatrixCare / Matrix

Dress Code

• No specific scrub color
• Must be clean and presentable
