Registered Nurse (RN) – Med Surg/Tele:

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care to young adult, adult, and elderly patients in the Surgical/Orthopedic unit. Responsibilities include assessing patient conditions, developing and implementing individualized care plans, monitoring recovery, managing pain, and providing safe, evidence-based care to pre- and post-operative patients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform comprehensive head-to-toe assessments and reassessments in accordance with facility policies.
• Provide pre- and post-operative nursing care for surgical and orthopedic patients, including those undergoing general, bariatric, trauma, neurosurgical, and genitourinary procedures.
• Monitor patient conditions, evaluate outcomes, and update care plans as needed.
• Administer medications, provide IV therapy, access central lines, and manage specialized IV drips and titration.
• Provide pain management and transfusion therapy.
• Perform chest tube care and assist with insertion procedures as appropriate.
• Manage PEG, G-tube, J-tube, and drainage systems, including Jackson-Pratt, Hemovac, percutaneous, and sump drains.
• Provide traction care and perform NIH Stroke Scale assessments.
• Perform EKGs, waived testing, and other unit-specific clinical procedures.
• Maintain accurate documentation of assessments, treatments, patient responses, and changes in condition.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to develop, implement, and update individualized care plans.
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment, recovery, medications, and discharge instructions.
• Assist physicians with procedures and respond promptly to changes in patient condition.
• Supervise and coordinate other healthcare staff as assigned.
• Maintain patient safety, confidentiality, infection control, and compliance with facility policies.
• Participate in quality improvement activities, staff development, and precepting as needed.

Required Qualifications:

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
• Current BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and EKG competencies required.
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience; 5 years preferred.
• Travel nursing experience required.
• Strong clinical assessment, critical-thinking, communication, and patient-care skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical/orthopedic environment.

Preferred Qualification: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Schedule & Additional Information:

• Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM.
• Four 12-hour shifts per week, totaling 48 hours.
• Candidates should have relevant surgical/orthopedic or Med-Surg experience and be comfortable with the procedures and equipment listed above.
