Respiratory Therapist – Night Shift

Job Description:
 

The Respiratory Therapist provides comprehensive respiratory care, evaluates patients, recommends treatment plans, and administers prescribed therapies. The role includes managing ventilatory equipment, performing respiratory procedures, monitoring patient responses, and educating patients and families.
 

Key Responsibilities:

• Evaluate patients and recommend appropriate respiratory treatment plans.
• Operate and monitor invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation equipment.
• Administer prescribed oxygen, aerosol, nebulizer, and respiratory treatments.
• Perform chest physiotherapy, airway suctioning, and tracheostomy care.
• Monitor oxygen saturation, capnography, pulmonary function, and respiratory status.
• Perform arterial punctures, 12-lead EKGs, and basic arrhythmia recognition.
• Assist with bronchoscopy, tracheostomy procedures, chest tube placement, and other respiratory procedures.
• Perform endotracheal intubation and CPR within professional scope and facility protocols.
• Document treatments, patient assessments, responses, and respiratory therapy charges accurately.
• Communicate patient status and treatment effectiveness to physicians and healthcare team members.
• Provide patient and family education and complete shift-to-shift handoffs.
• Follow clinical protocols, equipment safety procedures, and applicable regulatory standards.

Required Qualifications:

• Current state respiratory therapy license.
• Active CRT or RRT credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) or state equivalent.
• BLS certification required before the first shift.
• ACLS certification required before the first shift.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years of bedside clinical experience.
