We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a Flex Float Pool assignment in Hawaii. The RN will provide nursing care across multiple medical and surgical units, adapting to changing staffing needs and patient care requirements. Responsibilities include patient assessments, medication administration, monitoring patient conditions, and documenting care while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care across medical, acute surgical, and occasionally cardiovascular units.
• Perform patient assessments and monitor vital signs and changes in condition.
• Administer medications and prescribed treatments.
• Manage and monitor wound VACs and chest tubes as required.
• Document patient care using the Meditech electronic medical record (EMR).
• Utilize Pyxis for medication dispensing.
• Collaborate with physicians and the healthcare team to coordinate patient care.
• Adapt to different unit workflows and staffing needs.

Assignment Details

• Location: Hawaii
• Position: Registered Nurse – Flex Float Pool
• Shift: Night shift, 6:45 PM–7:15 AM
• Schedule: 12-hour shifts; 36 hours per week after the first week of orientation
• Hours: No guarantee of hours
• Floating: Medical Unit, Laulima Acute Surgical Unit, and rarely the Cardiovascular Unit
• Orientation: Unit-specific orientation provided

Unit Details

• Medical Unit: 77 beds; nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:8 at night and 1:6 during days/evenings
• Laulima Acute Surgical Unit: 18 beds; nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6
• Cardiovascular Unit: 15 beds; nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4

Ratios may vary due to unexpected staff absences.

Requirements

• 2–10 years of nursing experience
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Active Hawaii RN license required by the assignment start date
• Candidates without an active Hawaii license must apply upon acceptance of the offer
• Experience with Meditech, Pyxis, wound VACs, and chest tubes is relevant to the role
• PALS, Procedural Sedation, TNCC, and ENPC are preferred

Additional Requirements

• Must be flexible to float between designated units and work night shifts.
• Professional nursing attire and clean scrubs are required.
• Medical and religious exemption requests are not accepted in place of documented proof of immunity, as specified by the facility.
