Description

Position: RN OR – PCU (Progressive Care Unit)

Shift: 12-hour nights, 6:30 PM – 6:30 AM Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours/week Contract: 13 weeks

Position Details

Unit: PCU
Beds: 40; average daily census of 24
Patient Ratio: 1:4–5
Trauma Level: II
EMR: Epic
BSN: Not required
Setting: Acute care
Weekend: Every other weekend
Holidays: Minimum of 2 holidays during the contract
Floating: Med-Surg or ICU to care for PCU-acuity patients
Unit Orientation: 1 day

Required Qualifications

Active RN license
BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
PCU experience with competency in arterial lines
Experience interpreting cardiac rhythms and telemetry strips
Experience titrating cardiac and other critical drips

Patient Population

Cardiac Med-Surg
Dialysis and renal failure
Oncology
Vascular patients
Sepsis
Respiratory conditions
Stroke
Post-stent and post-pacemaker placement

Clinical Skills Required

Arterial line management
Telemetry interpretation
Titration of heparin, nitroglycerin, dopamine, Cardizem, amiodarone, and insulin
High-flow oxygen troubleshooting
