Job Description

We are seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality care to critically ill patients, including those recovering from open-heart surgery. Candidates must have recent experience caring for fresh open-heart surgery patients as well as experience managing a mixed ICU patient population.

Responsibilities & Requirements

• Provide comprehensive care to critically ill patients in a high-acuity ICU setting.
• Manage patient assignments at a 1:1–1:2 ratio, with approximately 90% of shifts at a 1:2 ratio.
• Care for fresh open-heart surgery patients and mixed ICU populations.
• Monitor patients using GE telemetry systems and manage ventilator-dependent patients.
• Collaborate with hospitalists, respiratory therapists, and pharmacy staff.
• Charge Nurse duties are available; charge nurses do not take patient assignments.
• Floating to telemetry or Med/Surg units may be required.

Schedule & Staffing

• Shift: 12-hour shifts, 6:45 AM–7:15 PM or 6:45 PM–7:15 AM.
• Scheduling: Self-scheduling available; schedules are generally prepared six weeks in advance and finalized after manager review.
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend.
• Holidays: No current holiday requirement, but holiday shifts may be required.
• Orientation: One day of unit-specific orientation.
• Scrub Color: Navy.

Hospital Support

• Hospitalist coverage available 24/7.
• Respiratory therapy and pharmacy services available 24/7.
• No dedicated IV team or nurse aides.

Ideal Candidate: An experienced ICU RN with recent fresh open-heart postoperative care experience, mixed ICU expertise, strong critical-care skills, and the ability to manage ventilated and critically ill patients in a fast-paced environment.
