Responsibilities

• Provide emergency nursing care to patients in a fast-paced Emergency Department (ED) treating approximately 80–90 patients daily.
• Assess, triage, and prioritize patients based on acuity and severity of illness or injury.
• Care for patients experiencing trauma, stroke, sepsis, congestive heart failure (CHF), and other acute medical emergencies.
• Perform patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and recognize changes in clinical status.
• Administer medications, IV fluids, and emergency treatments according to physician orders and protocols.
• Monitor and interpret ECG rhythms and identify cardiac abnormalities.
• Provide emergency interventions and assist physicians and advanced practice providers during procedures.
• Care for patients held in the ED while awaiting further treatment or disposition.
• Participate in triage duties as assigned.
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, paramedics, nursing assistants, and other healthcare professionals.
• Coordinate diagnostic testing and patient transport as needed, with X-ray and CT services located near the ED.
• Maintain accurate patient documentation using Paragon EMR.
• Follow infection control protocols, patient safety standards, and emergency department procedures.
• Float to other units within the nurse's scope of competency when required.
