Master Social Worker (MSW) – Days

Contract Length: 13 weeks, with the possibility of extension up to 24 weeks
Schedule: 40 hours per week, 5 × 8-hour shifts

Credentialing Timeline: Approximately 2 weeks (10 business days)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Master Social Worker (MSW) to provide social work services in an acute care hospital setting. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting patients and families through challenging medical situations, connecting patients with community resources, providing crisis intervention, and assisting with goals-of-care discussions and care coordination.

Candidates must hold a Master of Social Work degree. Registered Associate Clinical Social Workers (ACSWs) through the California Board of Behavioral Sciences are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide social work support to patients and their families throughout hospitalization.
• Connect patients and families with appropriate community resources and support services.
• Provide crisis intervention and emotional support during difficult medical situations.
• Assist with goals-of-care discussions and help patients and families navigate care decisions.
• Support the appointment of appropriate healthcare decision-makers.
• Assess psychosocial needs and identify barriers to care and discharge planning.
• Identify and assess concerns involving suicide risk, self-harm, child abuse, and emotional or psychological abuse.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care.
• Provide support across various hospital units, including the emergency department, NICU, ICU, medical-surgical, and telemetry units.
• Maintain accurate documentation and follow applicable hospital policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Master of Social Work (MSW) degree required.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in the specialty.
• Acute care hospital experience preferred.
• Experience working across multiple hospital units, including ER, NICU, ICU, medical-surgical, and telemetry.
• Experience with crisis intervention, resource coordination, psychosocial assessments, and goals-of-care discussions.
• Ability to recognize and assess concerns involving suicide risk, self-harm, and abuse.
• Registered Associate Clinical Social Worker (ACSW) through the California Board of Behavioral Sciences preferred.
• LA County Fire Card required.

• Candidates with an LMFT license or a counseling degree without an MSW will not be considered.

   

Schedule & Assignment Details

Two schedule options are available:

• Schedule 1: Sunday–Wednesday, 8:00 AM–6:00 PM.
• Schedule 2: Wednesday–Saturday, 8:00 AM–6:00 PM.

Additional details:

• 40 hours per week.
• Scheduling is based on hospital needs. Specific days off, blocked scheduling, and preferred shift patterns cannot be guaranteed.
• No on-call requirement.
• Candidates without RTO will be prioritized.

• Local candidates are accepted.

   

Pay Package

Estimated Gross Weekly Pay: $2,600

• Regular Pay: $25.00/hour × 40 hours = $1,000.00.
• Overtime Pay: $37.50/hour; no overtime included in this estimate.
• Weekly Lodging Stipend: $1,600.00.
• Meals Stipend: $0.00.
• Total Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,600.00.

• Scrub color: Royal blue or navy blue.
• PPE provided; fit testing can be completed onsite.
• Parking available onsite.
• EMR: Epic.
• Pay cycle: Sunday through Saturday.

Important: Candidates should be comfortable working in an acute care hospital environment, supporting patients and families through crisis situations, and coordinating appropriate community resources. Candidates without requested time off will receive priority consideration.
