1. Required qualifications

• Active Alaska RN license: Must have the Alaska RN license in hand for an Auto Offer. Candidates with a pending license may be submitted for screening, but licensure may take 10–12 weeks.
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience.
• Operating Room (OR) experience: Must have experience in a surgical setting, including the procedures and skills listed in the posting.
• Epic charting experience: Previous experience with the Epic electronic health record system is required.
• BLS certification: Basic Life Support is required.
• Travel eligibility: First-time travelers are not accepted.
• Non-local candidate: The candidate's permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility. Local candidates are not accepted.
• Availability for the full 13-week assignment.

3. Required clinical skills and experience

The candidate should have broad OR nursing experience and competency in multiple surgical specialties. Key areas include:

• General surgery: Appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernia repair, colon resection, exploratory laparotomy and Whipple procedures.
• Orthopedics and spine: Total joint replacement, fracture repair, spinal fusion, laminectomy and discectomy.
• Neurology and neurosurgery: Craniotomy, VP shunt procedures and other neurological surgeries.
• Vascular surgery: AV fistula repair, carotid procedures, bypass grafts and aortic repairs.
• Gynecology: Hysterectomy, D&C, C-sections and laparoscopic gynecological procedures.
• ENT and ophthalmology: Tonsillectomy, sinus procedures, cataract surgery and eye trauma.
• Urology: Cystoscopy, nephrectomy and transurethral prostate resection.
• Trauma: Experience with trauma cases, including motor vehicle accidents, gunshot wounds, fractures and other emergency surgical cases.
• Other technical skills: Specimen handling, infection control, surgical time-outs, electrosurgical equipment, peripheral IV starts, blood product administration and conscious sedation monitoring.

Experience with robotic surgery systems, including Da Vinci Xi, Stealth and Mazor robotics, is also relevant.
