Job Details

• Department: ICU – Combined ICU/PCU
• Position: Registered Nurse (RN)
• Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Shift Type: Nights, 12-hour shifts
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Openings: 1
• Weekend Requirement: Up to every other weekend
• Call Requirement: Up to 2 times per contract
• Experience Required: Minimum 2 years of recent adult ICU experience
• Education: ADN required
• Local Candidate Rule: Candidates must live at least 60 miles from the facility to qualify for travel.

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license (compact or North Carolina state license)
• BLS – AHA
• ACLS – AHA
• NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of recent adult ICU experience

Required Clinical Skills

Candidates must have experience with:

• Ventilators and patients requiring vasopressors
• Drip titration and management
• Arterial lines and central lines
• BiPAP
• DKA management
• Alcohol withdrawal management
• Caring for both ICU and PCU/step-down patients

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous travel nursing experience
• PCU/step-down experience
• Rural or community hospital experience
• Ability to adapt quickly with minimal orientation

Unit Information

• Unit: Combined ICU/PCU
• Beds: 9 total, including 1 bed reserved for code situations
• Patient Ratios: ICU 1:2; PCU 1:4
• Patient Population: Adult and geriatric
• EHR: Paragon (Clinical Care Station)
• Scrub Color: Any solid color

Equipment used: Ventilators, BiPAP, arterial-line monitoring, CVP monitoring, central lines, Sigma infusion pumps, GE cardiac monitors, Omnicell and Accu-Chek glucometers.

Common Diagnoses

• Sepsis and septic shock
• Respiratory failure and ARDS
• Ventilated patients requiring vasopressors
• Alcohol withdrawal
• Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA)
• CHF and COPD exacerbations
• Atrial fibrillation with rapid ventricular response (Afib with RVR)
• Hypertensive crisis
• Overdose

Floating Requirements

The nurse will participate in an equal float rotation with core ICU/PCU staff. Floating may include:

• Med-Surg/Telemetry
• Emergency Department tasking or holding
• Sitter assignments

Floated nurses receive a modified or reduced patient assignment on the receiving unit.
