Job Type: Contract – 13 Weeks
Schedule: 3 × 12-Hour Night Shifts
Shift Timing: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
 

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to join the respiratory care team at Hackensack University Medical Center in Hackensack, New Jersey. The ideal candidate will have recent respiratory therapy experience, a strong ICU background, and hands-on experience with ventilator management.
 

Key Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory therapy services to patients with cardiopulmonary conditions.
• Assess patient needs and administer appropriate respiratory treatments and interventions.
• Assist with intubation and perform ventilator setup, monitoring, and management.
• Conduct diagnostic evaluations and collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
• Educate patients and caregivers on respiratory conditions, treatments, and equipment.
• Maintain accurate patient care documentation in accordance with facility policies.
• Float to adult ICU units, intermediate care, and the Basic Intermediate Care floor as required.
• Follow established clinical protocols, safety standards, and departmental procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of recent experience as a licensed Registered Respiratory Therapist.
• Minimum of 1 year of ICU experience.
• Previous hands-on ventilator experience required.
• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Required Licensure & Certifications

• Current, valid New Jersey Respiratory Care License.
• Current NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential.
• BLS – AHA.
• ACLS.
• PALS.

Additional Requirements

• Flexibility to float across designated adult critical care and intermediate care units.
• Strong clinical judgment, adaptability, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Contract Highlights

• 13-week contract
• 36 hours per week
• Three 12-hour night shifts
• Shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
