Mandatory Requirements

• Completion of an accredited MLT/CLS or MT/MLS program.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Applied Science, or a related scientific discipline.
• Current ASCP or AMT certification required.
• Ability to work independently during night shifts as the sole laboratory professional on-site.
• Competency across multiple laboratory disciplines.

Required Skills and Responsibilities

• Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, and Serology.
• Specimen collection, processing, testing, and result reporting.
• Phlebotomy for patients of all ages, from neonatal to geriatric.
• Arterial blood gas (ABG) collection.
• Analyzer maintenance, quality control, and quality assurance.
• Recognizing and reporting critical laboratory values to providers.
• ED specimen processing and scheduled morning inpatient blood draws.
• Infection control, patient confidentiality, and regulatory compliance.

Important Night-Shift Details

• The facility is a rural Critical Access Hospital with a busy Emergency Department.
• The lab professional works independently from 5:00 PM to 5:30 AM, with no other laboratory professional on-site during that period.
• Must manage emergency testing, after-hours clinic specimens, morning inpatient draws, critical-value notifications, and supply updates for the day shift.
