Travel Registered Nurse – Emergency Room (ER)

Join the Emergency Department team at Providence St. Peter Hospital, caring for patients of all ages in a high-volume emergency care setting. This assignment is ideal for an ER nurse with strong emergency assessment skills and experience using Epic.

• Shift Hours: 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
• Patient Ratio: 1:4
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Floating: Required to similar units within the nurse's scope of practice
• Charting System: Epic — required
• Patient Population: Neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
• Travel Experience: First-time travelers accepted with at least 1 year of ER experience and Epic experience
• Pre-Approved Time Off: Up to 2 requests
• On-Call: Not required
• Local Candidates: Not accepted within 50 miles of the facility

🩺 Your Responsibilities

• Provide emergency nursing care to patients across all age groups.
• Perform patient assessments, triage, and emergency interventions.
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and recognize and manage dysrhythmias.
• Care for critically ill patients, including those with multisystem organ dysfunction.
• Manage IV therapy, central lines, and continuous IV sedation.
• Administer IV vasopressors and provide care for ventilated patients.
• Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and respond to changes in patient condition.
• Maintain isolation precautions and follow appropriate PPE protocols.
• Document patient care accurately using Epic.
• Float to similar units as required, within your skill set.

✅ Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of ER nursing experience
• Epic experience is mandatory, including for first-time travelers
• ACLS certification
• BLS certification
• NIHSS certification
• PALS certification
• TNCC certification
• Experience working in a large hospital or emergency care setting

⭐ Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a large, high-volume emergency department
• Trauma experience
• Arterial-line management experience
• Experience caring for ventilated patients and managing complex critical conditions

🏥 Unit & Facility Details

• Unit: Emergency Services, 1st Floor
• Emergency Department Volume: Approximately 170 patient visits per day
• Hospital Size: 325 staffed beds
• Trauma Level: Level III trauma center that functions at a Level II level, according to the job description
• Specialty Services: Level I stroke and cardiac center
• Patient Population: All ages
• Support Services: IV team, respiratory services, physical therapy, phlebotomy, radiology, pharmacy, social services, and rapid response teams
• Orientation: 24 hours

• Overtime: After 40 hours per week, according to the contract's overtime multiplier
