Required Qualifications

• Active Ohio RN license or valid compact RN license in hand at submission
• 2 years of Med-Surg/Telemetry experience
• BLS certification
• ACLS certification
• IV certification
• Strong communication, critical-thinking, and multitasking skills

Preferred: Travel experience and prior Epic experience.

Note: PCU experience is not required.

Clinical Skills & Responsibilities

• Start and maintain IVs; provide peripheral-line and PICC-line care.
• Administer medications and IV antibiotics safely.
• Monitor vital signs and patient responses.
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias.
• Manage chest tubes, oxygen therapy, and nasal cannulas.
• Follow isolation precautions and PPE protocols.
• Respond to rapid-response and code situations.
• Provide patient education and collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team.
• Perform Med-Surg procedures, including Foley catheter care, and assist with bedside procedures such as paracentesis and lumbar punctures.
• Float to other units within the Ohio State University organization as needed.

Schedule & Facility Policies

• Weekend Requirement: Approximately 3–4 weekend days per month
• Floating: Required within the OSU organization
• Call: Not specified
• Pre-Approved RTO: One request permitted; all RTO must be submitted with the profile and built into the contract.
• Locals: Accepted at the same rate
• Former Employees: Must have been separated from the facility for at least 6 months.
• Current Employees: Not eligible for traveler positions at Ohio State University hospitals.

Submission Requirements

• Two professional references required.
• At least one reference must be from a manager, director, supervisor, or other formal leader. A charge RN may serve as the second reference; coworker references are not accepted.
• RN license must be active and in hand at submission.
• Education must be from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited program.
• Background history must be disclosed on the profile/application.
• Ohio fingerprinting must be completed promptly after contract signing.
• Compliance deadline is the Tuesday before the start date; no exceptions.
• Submit to only one OSU location. The account management team will determine the best fit.
