Position Overview

Aspirus Iron River is seeking an experienced Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week travel assignment. The nurse will provide general nursing care primarily to geriatric patients with conditions such as congestive heart failure (CHF), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and diabetes.

Candidates with both Med-Surg and Emergency Department (ED) experience are highly preferred. However, qualified Med-Surg nurses without ED experience will also be considered.

Schedule Requirements

• 12-hour night shifts.
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week.
• Every-other-weekend rotation.
• Every-other-holiday rotation.

Floating Requirements

• Must be willing to float to the Emergency Department (ED) within their demonstrated competency.
• Candidates comfortable working across multiple departments are preferred.

Required Qualifications

• Current, active Michigan RN license.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification.
• Minimum of 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience.
• Strong EPIC electronic medical record (EMR) charting skills.
• Experience with CareScape patient monitoring systems and Pyxis medication dispensing systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous Emergency Department experience.
• Current ACLS certification (preferred, not required).
• Experience working across multiple clinical departments.

ICU experience is not required.

Unit Details

• Unit: 25-bed Medical-Surgical unit.
• Patient population: Primarily geriatric patients.
• Common conditions: CHF, COPD, diabetes, and other medical conditions.
• Patient ratios:
  • Day shift: 1:4–1:5.
  • Night shift: 1:6.
