Job Description

We are seeking an experienced General Ultrasound Technologist for a 13-week travel contract at a brand-new, state-of-the-art freestanding emergency room. The ideal candidate must have prior travel experience and documented pediatric ultrasound experience in a complex medical center.

The technologist will perform general, abdominal, pelvic, OB/GYN, pediatric, and vascular ultrasound examinations, as applicable to their competencies. Responsibilities include obtaining diagnostic images, operating ultrasound equipment, following isolation precautions and PPE protocols, and providing appropriate patient care across emergency and other clinical settings.

Required Qualifications

• Active ARDMS certification.
• Current BLS certification.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience.
• Previous travel assignment experience.
• Documented pediatric patient experience in a complex medical center.
• Experience with Epic charting.
• Availability to start on the posted start date.
• Willingness to float between the two campuses with advance notice.

Preferred Certifications

• ARDMS Abdomen (AB).
• ARDMS OB/GYN.
• ARDMS Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT).

Required Clinical Skills and Experience

General and Abdominal Ultrasound

• General ultrasound examinations.
• Abdominal aorta, biliary tract, gallbladder, liver, pancreas, and spleen.
• Appendix, bladder, renal, and pelvic studies.
• Pediatric abdomen and pelvis.
• Scrotal and testicular ultrasound.
• Soft tissue and superficial mass imaging.

OB/GYN and Pelvic Ultrasound

• OB/GYN examinations, including first-trimester studies.
• Transvaginal ultrasound.
• Uterus and ovarian imaging.
• Obstetric and fetal imaging.

Vascular Ultrasound

• Aortic studies.
• Carotid imaging.
• Color flow and duplex studies.
• Upper- and lower-extremity venous studies.

Additional Skills

• Breast ultrasound.
• Ultrasound-guided biopsy and fine-needle aspiration.
• Cyst aspiration, paracentesis, and thoracentesis.
• Pediatric and adult patient care.
• Emergency department experience.
• Portable ultrasound equipment.
• PACS and Philips ultrasound equipment.
• ICU and obstetric settings are preferred.

Work Locations

• Nashoba: 490 Main Street, Groton, MA.
• Marlborough: 157 Union Street, Marlborough, MA.

Important Facility Requirements

• The position is at a newly opened freestanding emergency room.
• The technologist must float between Nashoba and Marlborough, approximately 30–40 minutes apart.
• Start dates are firm; alternative start dates are not being considered.
• Scheduled hours are fixed, with no opportunity to work additional hours.
• Depending on the shift, the technologist may work independently at the Nashoba location.
• At Nashoba, the assignment may require a full 12-hour on-site shift without a 30-minute break, depending on the assigned shift. Confirm the applicable schedule and break arrangements with the facility before accepting.

Ideal Candidate: A travel Ultrasound Technologist with active ARDMS certification, BLS, Epic experience, and strong pediatric sonography experience in a complex medical center.
