Shift: Day | 4x10-hour shifts
Shift Options: 6:30 AM–7:00 PM or 11:00 AM–9:00 PM

Job Description

Seeking an experienced Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – PACU for a high-acuity inpatient recovery unit. The RN will provide specialized post-anesthesia care to adult and geriatric patients recovering from complex surgeries and procedures, including kidney transplants, craniotomies, valve replacements, and spine surgeries.

Responsibilities

• Provide Phase I and Phase II post-anesthesia recovery care.
• Monitor patients following complex surgical and interventional procedures.
• Assess airways, respiratory status, hemodynamics, pain, and neurological status.
• Manage ventilated patients, IV medications, central lines, and cardiac monitoring as needed.
• Recognize and respond to emergencies and post-operative complications.
• Maintain accurate patient records using Epic EMR.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, ICU teams, and other healthcare professionals.
• Float to other UCSF facilities or units as required.

Required Qualifications

• Active California RN license in hand.
• BSN required.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience.
• High-acuity PACU experience.
• Phase I and Phase II recovery experience.
• Inpatient and Level I Trauma Center experience.
• Epic EMR experience.
• Current AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
• Teaching hospital experience required.
• Two references from the most recent employer must be available at submission.

Preferred Qualifications

• ICU experience, especially SICU, CVICU, or Neuro ICU.
• Previous charge nurse experience.
• CCRN and NIHSS certifications.
• Experience recovering kidney transplant, craniotomy, transaortic valve replacement, spine surgery, and VATS patients.
