Job Description

Seeking an experienced Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) to perform generalist laboratory testing in a fast-paced hospital environment. The role covers hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, chemistry, serology, and limited microbiology, with blood bank responsibilities.

The facility is a Level III trauma center with open-heart services, two catheterization labs, and an oncology clinic serving approximately 600 active patients per month.

Required Qualifications

• Active California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license in hand — mandatory.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant laboratory experience.
• ASCP-MLS certification.
• Recent blood bank experience required.
• Epic charting system experience.
• Hospital clinical laboratory experience.
• Willingness to float to the Observation Unit, which cares for ER hold patients.
• Flexibility to work varying weekend shifts as needed.

Laboratory Responsibilities

• Hematology and coagulation testing.
• Chemistry and urinalysis.
• Serology and limited microbiology.
• Routine blood bank procedures and transfusion-related testing.
• Specimen processing, quality control, and accurate result reporting.

Note: Antibody identification is not required for this assignment.

Schedule & Holiday Requirements

• Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM.
• 40 hours per week.
• Weekend coverage varies based on department needs.
• Must commit to working 3 of the following 5 holidays: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day.
• Requested time off must be disclosed at submission. Requests exceeding 7 days may require additional approval.

Additional Requirements

• First-time travelers are welcome.
• Willingness to float to nearby sister facilities as required.
• Two professional references covering at least one year of employment within the last three years are required during compliance.
• Candidates must disclose any previous employment or assignments with Providence facilities, including locations and dates.
