Mandatory qualifications

Valid nursing license; the facility accepts candidates for submission while licensure is pending, according to the posting.
Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.
Relevant cardiovascular operating room (CVOR) nursing experience.
Knowledge of perioperative nursing practices, sterile technique, surgical safety, and infection control.
Ability to work collaboratively in a cardiovascular surgical team.
Ability to float to other departments when CVOR cases are unavailable.
Ability to complete required online learning modules before starting the assignment.

Responsibilities Provide perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing cardiovascular surgical procedures. Prepare the operating room, surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies before procedures. Verify patient identity, surgical consent, procedure details, and preoperative documentation. Assist the cardiovascular surgical team during procedures while maintaining sterile technique and patient safety. Monitor patients' condition throughout the perioperative period and promptly communicate clinical changes. Collaborate with cardiovascular surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and other members of the operating room team. Ensure appropriate handling of surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies. Maintain strict aseptic technique and follow infection-prevention protocols. Document patient care, procedures, and perioperative information in the Cerner electronic medical record system. Support safe patient transfers and handoffs to the appropriate recovery or critical care unit. Float to other assigned units or departments when cardiovascular surgical cases are unavailable. Complete required facility learning modules before the assignment start date.
