Job Title: Special Education Teacher

Facility Type/Setting: School / Special Education

Classroom: Kindergarten, Level 2–3 Autism (High Needs); 4–6 students with two additional adults in the classroom

Shift & Schedule: 7-hour workday with a 30-minute unpaid lunch

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in special education, education, or a related field
• Valid Ohio Department of Education Intervention Specialist license or eligibility for a temporary K-12 license
• Highly Qualified Teacher (HQT) status
• Knowledge of IDEA guidelines and Ohio’s Operating Standards for the Education of Children with Disabilities
• Successful completion of a criminal background check

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized instructional programs for kindergarten students with disabilities.
• Create, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Adapt instructional strategies, materials, and accommodations to meet students’ learning needs.
• Implement positive behavior support strategies and maintain a safe classroom environment.
• Collect student performance data and monitor academic, behavioral, and social progress.
• Collaborate with classroom staff, school personnel, and related service providers.
• Communicate with parents regarding student progress and educational goals.
• Maintain educational resources and specialized instructional materials.
• Participate in professional development and comply with special education regulations and Ohio educator licensing requirements.
