Description
Registered Nurse (RN) – Inpatient Rehabilitation
Facility: Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center
Unit: 2 North Inpatient Rehabilitation Program
Shift & Schedule
- Shift: 12-hour nights
- Guaranteed Hours: Not specified
- Weekend rotation: Every third weekend, as needed
- Call: None
- Holidays: Every other holiday, as needed
- Floating: Required to other Medical-Surgical units, including inpatient boarding areas
- Travelers are first to float.
- Maximum work limits: 60 hours per week or five consecutive 12-hour shifts.

- Hospital: 933 beds
- Rehabilitation unit: 45 beds
- Level III Trauma Center
- Magnet-designated hospital
- Comprehensive Stroke Center
- CARF-accredited, stroke-certified inpatient rehabilitation program
- EHR: Epic preferred
- Equipment: Alaris pumps, Pyxis, Hoyer lifts, ceiling lifts, and sit-to-stand lifts
- Parking: Free in designated areas
Patient Population
- Stroke and neurological rehabilitation
- Traumatic brain injury (TBI)
- Multiple sclerosis (MS) and Parkinson’s disease
- LVAD patients
- Oncology and transplant patients
- Patients requiring tracheostomy care
Staffing Ratios
- RN day shift: 1:4–5
- RN night shift: 1:6–7
- LPN day shift: 1:4–5
- LPN night shift: 1:6–7
- CNA day shift: 1:6–7
- CNA night shift: 1:7–8
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience
- BLS certification required
- First-time travelers accepted
- Epic experience preferred
Required Clinical Skills
- IV pumps, IV insertion, and central/PICC/midline catheter care
- Tube feeding pumps and GI/PEG/NG tube management
- NG tube insertion
- Wound care and wound vac management
- Indwelling catheter insertion and care
- Tracheostomy care and suctioning
- Laryngectomy and drain care
- Managing behavioral issues
Unit Support
- Charge nurse (may also have a patient assignment)
- Health Unit Coordinator from 6:00 AM–10:30 PM
- Hospitalist coverage 24/7
- Respiratory therapy and phlebotomy available 24/7
Scrub & Appearance Policy
- Any scrub color is acceptable.
- No camouflage or denim.
- Crocs are not permitted.
- Appearance guidelines will be provided during orientation.
