Location: Winnemucca, Nevada Contract Length: 13 weeks Shift: Days, 4 x 10-hour shifts (6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.), 40 hours per week

Required Qualifications

• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
• 1 year of circulating experience
• Strong orthopedic experience, including total joints

Preferred Qualifications

• Preop and PACU experience, since travelers will float to these areas

Unit and Case Mix

• Department: OR
• Suites: 2 ORs and 1 endoscopy procedure room
• Daily volume: Varies from 0 to 12 cases. On low-census days, staff may be tasked to other departments, work with supplies, or take a low census day if desired.
• Common cases: General, orthopedics, podiatry, urology, OB, C-section, GYN, pain management, cardiology (pacemakers, TEEs), and endoscopy. Mostly adult cases, with occasional pediatric orthopedics or appys.
• Does not require RNs to scrub.
• A charge nurse and house supervisor are on site. Travelers would not hold the charge role.

Training and Experience Notes

• Willing to train for endoscopy and cardiology.
• Open to first-time travelers.
• Unit-specific orientation varies. Travelers strong in preop and PACU may complete it in 3 days, and it can take up to a week.

Schedule and Call

• Scheduling: The charge nurse handles shift scheduling.
• Weeknight call: 1 weeknight per week, 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.
• Weekend call: 1 weekend per month, 5:00 p.m. Friday to 6:30 a.m. Monday.
• Holiday call: Yes, for major holidays, rotating with core staff.
• Call response time: 20 minutes

Floating

• Floats to preop and PACU. Staff try to avoid floating within the same shift, though on rare occasions a case may be followed from the OR to PACU.

Equipment

• Scrub color provided, plus designated OR shoes.

Housing

• Leads are available for housing in the area (at additional cost). Candidates are asked to look into housing when submitting.
