RN – Medical Stepdown / Rapid Evaluation Unit (REU)

Shift: 12-hour shifts – Days/Nights
Schedule: 3x12s | 36 hours/week
 

Job Requirements

• BSN required.
• Minimum 2 years of Stepdown experience.
• 1–2 years of cardiac monitoring experience.
• BLS and ACLS required.
• Strong cardiac rhythm interpretation and EKG skills.
• Experience with continuous medication infusions.
• Ventilator, tracheostomy, G-tube, and wound care experience.

Unit Details

• Department: Medical MS – Stepdown (11CHC-A).
• Unit: Rapid Evaluation Unit (REU).
• Patient Stay: Typically 24–72 hours.
• Fast-paced environment with high patient turnover.
• Strong critical thinking and assessment skills required.
• Must perform EKGs, lab draws, and direct patient care.
• Must be comfortable floating to Med/Surg units.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients and develop individualized care plans.
• Provide direct patient care and administer medications.
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and patient conditions.
• Coordinate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams.
• Document patient progress and responses to treatment.
• Assist with admissions, discharge planning, and patient education.
• Supervise and support other nursing personnel.
