Job Description – Respiratory Therapist (RT)

Position Overview:
The Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory care services to inpatient and outpatient populations, performing therapeutic and diagnostic procedures while ensuring safe, timely, and accurate patient care.

Responsibilities:

• Perform aerosol, oxygen, nebulizer, and airway clearance therapies.
• Manage CPAP, BiPAP, high-flow oxygen, and mechanical ventilation.
• Perform suctioning, extubation, pulse oximetry, EKGs, and pulmonary function screenings.
• Perform arterial punctures and blood gas analysis.
• Monitor equipment, alarms, and oxygen safety.
• Document procedures and results accurately.
• Follow department policies and patient safety standards.

Requirements:

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
• New York State Respiratory Therapy Permit or License.
• NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential.
• Current BLS certification (AHA, HSI, or Red Cross).
• ACLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Strong communication, technical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred:

• At least one year of Respiratory Therapist experience.
